Our name

Why we’re called Onomaris.ai.

In the 4th century BC, a Celtic people faced a crisis. Their land could no longer sustain them, and they needed to leave — but no one would lead them. So they made an offer: whoever stepped up to lead the migration would be obeyed.

Who
Onomaris, a Celtic leader of the 4th century BC
The crossing
The Ister — the lower stretch of the Danube River — into southeastern Europe
The meaning
Traced by some scholars to “great,” by others to “river”
The story

No man volunteered.

A woman named Onomaris did. She pooled the resources of her people, organized the emigration, led them across the Ister (lower stretch of the Danube River) into southeastern Europe, and won the land they settled through the battles that followed.

She wasn’t given the role. She wasn’t the obvious or expected choice. She simply saw that leadership was needed, and that resourcefulness — pulling together what the group already had — was enough to get everyone moving toward something better.

That’s the story behind our name.

The bridge, then and now

She was the bridge that got them there.

Woman-Owned Veteran-Owned

Onomaris’s name itself is thought to carry a double meaning: some scholars trace it to a root meaning “great”; others to a word for “river” — fitting for a leader remembered for a crossing. She didn’t just lead her people to new land. She was the bridge that got them there.

We chose that as our model.

Most small businesses today are standing at a similar edge. They know AI could change how they operate, compete, and grow — but they lack the time, the technical background, or the internal expertise to cross that gap on their own. Like Onomaris’s people, they’re not short on the will to move forward. They’re short on someone willing and equipped to lead the way across.

That’s the role Onomaris.ai plays. We’re a woman-veteran-owned technology venture built to be that bridge — turning complex AI, machine learning, and large language model capabilities into guided, practical workflows that any business owner or front-line employee can actually use. We partner with chambers of commerce, small business development centers, and workforce and entrepreneurship nonprofits to run the training, pilots, and AI onboarding cohorts that get businesses not just informed about AI, but actually using it.

Our principle

Resourcefulness, not resources.

Onomaris didn’t wait for her people to have more. She organized what they already had and led with it. That’s the same principle we build on: most small businesses don’t need an unlimited budget or an in-house data science team to adopt AI well. They need someone to organize the path, make the crossing manageable, and lead the way with what’s practical and available right now.

We picked her name because we’re not interested in AI adoption as a luxury reserved for companies with resources to spare. We’re interested in leading the businesses that everyone else overlooked — the ones nobody else stepped up for — across the bridge to a place where AI works for them, not around them.
